The Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) rejects the reduction in working hours and the Government is considering approving it as a matter of urgency
Alberto Novoa, partner in the labour law area of RocaJunyent, participates in an article in Economist & Jurist that analyses the unanimous rejection by the extraordinary Executive Committee of the CEOE, which met on Tuesday 5 November, of the proposal of the Ministry of Labour to legally reduce working hours.
The imminent approval of the reduction of the working day by emergency procedure has given rise to a significant debate on the suitability of this procedure and its implications for Spanish businesses. The urgency with which to legislate on far-reaching issues, such as the reduction of the working day, raises questions as to whether this is the most appropriate way to implement structural changes in the labour market.
