
Javier Vázquez Salleras
Biography and experience
Javier has extensive experience advising companies and individuals on a wide range of matters relating to intellectual property, including copyright, trade marks, trade names, industrial designs, patents, utility models, software, know-how and trade secrets, domain names, unfair competition, advertising and image rights.
He provides strategic and ongoing legal advice on contractual matters, including the drafting and negotiation of licence agreements, agreements for the assignment and transfer of rights, professional services contracts, collaboration and distribution agreements, contracts for commissioned work, sponsorship agreements and contracts with content creators, amongst others. He also heads the firm’s practice in the registration, management and defence of trade marks. In the field of sport, he advises and represents clubs, federations, athletes, associations and other sport-related organisations, as well as in eSports, including the organisation of championships and tournaments, teams and audiovisual and image rights relating to video games. Furthermore, for many years he served on the Board of Trustees of the FC Barcelona Players’ Foundation.
He has extensive experience in civil litigation, advising clients both in court proceedings and in pre-litigation matters relating to the protection and defence of intellectual property rights, unfair competition and contractual disputes.
He lectures at the University of Barcelona (UB), is a teaching assistant at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and is a regular speaker at seminars and forums such as those organised by ESADE (Ramon Llull University).
He is a member of INTA (International Trademark Association), AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) and MARQUES (European Trade Mark Owners’ Association).
